Accessibility
For Visual Assistance
All screenings that are not in English will have English subtitles, unless otherwise requested by the filmmaker.
Screenings that have Closed Captioning available will be labelled with the following icon:
At this time, only VIFF Centre is equipped with Closed Captioning devices; the venue has two devices available for each screening. To inquire whether these devices are available, please contact the venue at accessibility@viff.org or the DOXA team at info@doxafestival.ca. Devices can be obtained on a first-come-first-serve basis from the front desk at VIFF Centre.
Both VIFF Centre and The Cinematheque are outfitted with hearing assistance systems; a signal is fed directly from the venue audio system to the supplied hearing assistance device. The user of the device can adjust the volume to suit their needs. Information on obtaining these devices is available at venue Box Offices. These devices are available free of charge.
Screenings that are Closed Captioned and include a post-screening Q&A will include live captioning. Live captioning can be accessed through a smart phone by scanning the QR code that appears during a screening.
Please click here to access live captioning (if you were unable to scan the QR Code)
